LOGAN COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO 1-5 YEARS FOR STRANGULATION

LOGAN, W.Va. –Justin Scott Dalton, 36, of Harts, WV was sentenced today no less than one but no more than 5 years in a state correctional facility for Strangulation.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on August 26, 2022, a child victim was taken to Valley Health in Harts, WV to be treated for a rash, when medical staff observed multiple contusions to the child’s head and body. The injuries were referred to the DHHR and a forensic interview was conducted by the Child Advocacy Center in Logan, WV. During the interview, the victim disclosed that Justin Dalton had choked him on multiple occasions to the point where the victim could not breathe.
The Logan County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office commends the investigative work of the West Virginia State Police and Cpl. S.P. Bowling.
Judge Gilmore-Codispoti imposed the sentence. Chief Assistant Prosecutor Teresa Maynard prosecuted the case.
