SOUTH CHARLESTON MAN SENTENCED TO THIRTY YEARS IN SOLICITATION CASE

LOGAN, W.Va. – Chad Michael White, 44, of South Charleston, West Virginia, previously entered a guilty plea in Logan County Circuit Court to the charges of Soliciting a Minor and Traveling to Engage the Minor in Prohibited Sexual Activity and Use of Minors in Filming Sexually Explicit Conduct.

White was sentenced on May 1, 2025, to ten years in prison for the Use of Minors in Filming Sexually Explicit Conduct conviction and for twenty years in prison for the Soliciting a Minor and Traveling to Engage the Minor in Prohibited Sexual Activity conviction. Judge Codispoti ordered the sentences to run consecutively with each other. The sentences are also to run consecutively with a 2-10 year sentence Mr. White received in Wood County for a charge which was part of the same investigation. Additionally, White has to register as a sex offender for life and will be subject to 50 years of post-conviction supervised release after he discharges his sentences.

According to court documents and statements made in court, on February 23, 2023, Chad Michael White traveled from Marmet, West Virginia in a rented U-Haul to pick up the minor from her residence. From there, the Defendant drove to the Chapmanville park and ride where he parked the truck and proceeded to have sexual intercourse with the child on a bean bag in the back of the truck. The Defendant recorded the entire incident using his cell phone.

Corporal Bowling, along with Sergeant S.A. Hatten, were able to identify the Defendant using facial recognition technology provided by investigators and analysts of WVIX. Additionally, Cpl. Bowling was able to track the U-Haul to a rental agreement belonging to Chad White. The bean bag was recovered and tested for DNA which was later matched to the Defendant. The Logan County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office commends the investigative work of Corporal S.P. Bowling and the West Virginia State Police.

Judge Gilmore-Codispoti presided over the hearing. Prosecuting Attorney David Wandling prosecuted the case on behalf of the State of West Virginia
